Sep. 11–AUSTIN, Texas–Insured losses from water and mold damage in Texas homes are expected to reach at least $780 million this year — a 60 percent increase from a year ago — according to new estimates from the insurance industry.
The estimates come as state regulators, insurance companies and consumer groups try to determine what has caused the claims surge and what should be done to stabilize the homeowners’ insurance market in Texas.
